Geography Of Veganism: How it spread

History:

A vegan diet has been around since 500 BC.  Buddha had been known to promote a vegetarian diet to his followers.

The First Modern Vegans:

In November 1944, a meeting was held with 6 non-dairy vegetarians involved, including a man called Donald Watson. They discussed non-dairy vegetarian lifestyles and diets. It was in this group that they decided to call non-dairy vegetarians 'vegans' and this formed the first ever Vegan Society. The vegan society were against using animals for food, hunting, commodities, work and experimentation.

Veganism Today:

Today, there are many more vegans than there used to be. The idea of veganism has spread because people have been informed about the poor treatment of animals and animal cruelty. In the UK, the numbers of vegans has risen by 350% over the past 10 years as a result of Instagram. People have been influenced by pictures on Instagram. Many celebrities are known to promote vegan lifestyles, such as Miley Cyrus, Ariana Grande, Ellen DeGeneres and many more. These celebrities have influenced their fans and therefore, their fans become vegan..
